Our Team
This work is grounded in real clinical experience—and a belief that primary care can be better than what most people experience today.
Founder, Unorthodoc & Unorthodoc Foundation
Dr. Annis has spent the last decade of her 45-year career doing Direct Primary Care in North Carolina, building a model centered on time, trust, and continuity. She calls it the most rewarding part of her career (so far).
Her experience made something clear:
The system isn’t broken. It’s working exactly as it’s been designed to work and doesn’t want to be fixed. Good care isn’t lacking. Good access to it is.
She strongly feels that Direct Primary Care is a proven model for strengthening primary care, the foundation of all other healthcare — and one that needs no outside permission to grow. It only needs people…patients, doctors, and communities.
She started the Foundation to foster and extend what already works so more people can reach it.
“I love being a doctor. This has become my active love letter to both my profession and to the patients who support it.”
Cory Annis, MD
Dr. Nayo joins this work as the lead physician of our first Foundation clinic, Unorthodoc.org, with a shared commitment to restoring the time, attention, and relationships that primary care depends on.
She continues the tradition of thoughtful care—spending time with patients, focusing on prevention, and building long-term doctor–patient relationships.
As this model grows, physicians like Dr. Nayo are essential—not just in delivering care, but in helping shape what accessible, relationship-based care can look like in new communities.
This work is supported by a growing group of advisors, clinicians, and community members who believe in restoring primary care and expanding access to it.
